Low Frequency Electromagnetic Fields Might Increase the Effect of Enamel Matrix Derivative on Periodontal Tissues

چکیده

Periodontal regeneration is a complex goal, which commonly pursued with combination of surgical techniques, biomaterials, and bioactive compounds. One such compound enamel matrix derivative (EMD), medical substance that extracted from porcine tooth germs contains several protein fractions BMP- TGF-β-like action. Activation TGF-β signaling required for EMD activity on cells tissues, growing body evidence indicates largely relies this pathway. As low frequency electromagnetic fields (EMFs) have long been investigated as tool to promote bone formation osteoblast activity, because recent studies reported the effects EMFs require primary cilia, by modulating presence membrane-bound receptors (e.g., BMP) or signal mediators, it can be hypothesized application may increase cell sensitivity EMD: TGFBR also identified could make more responsive inducing display higher number cellular membrane.

The effect of 12 Hz Extremely Low-Frequency Electromagnetic Fields on Visual Memory of Male Macaque Monkeys

Introduction: Today, humans leave in a world surrounded by electromagnetic fields. Numerous studies have been carried out to discover the biological, physiological, and behavioral effects of electromagnetic fields on humans and animals. Given the biological similarities between monkeys and humans, the goal of the present research was to examine Visual Memory (VM), hormonal, genomic, and anatomi...

Effect of occupational exposure to extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields on level of thyroid hormones effective on fatigue

Background: The aim of this study was to assess exposure to extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMFs) and its effects on secretion of thyroid hormones associated with symptoms of fatigue on electric arc welding workers. Methods: This study was carried out on two groups including 35 welders (as exposed) and 35 non-welders (as control). Extremely low frequency electromagnetic fie...

The evaluation of enamel matrix derivative on subgingival microbial environment in non-surgical periodontal therapy.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE Recent in vitro studies indicate that enamel matrix derivative (EMD) could modulate the growth of periodontopathogens. The aim of the presented study was an analysis of the influence of EMD on the presence of Porphyromonas and Prevotella bacteria in the periodontal pockets of patients with chronic periodontitis in non-surgical periodontal therapy. MATERIALS AND METH...

Evaluation of Enamel Matrix Derivative (EMD) Teratogenicity on the Rat Embryo Neural Crest Culture

Enamel matrix derivative Emdogain (EMD) is widely used in periodontal treatment in spite of the fact that its effect on the developing embryo has not been elucidated. The aim of this study was to investigate the teratogenic effect of EMD on the rat embryo neural crest cells. The neural crest is a unique population of cells that migrates from the dorsal neural tube along defined pathways and pro...
